Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

- Shreve's two most recent novels, Sea Glass and The Last Time They Met, have both become #1 bestsellers in trade paperback.- In the years since The Pilot's Wife became one of the most popular selections of Oprah's Book Club, more than 6.8 million copies of Anita Shreve's six Little, Brown/Back Bay titles have been sold.- The hardcover edition of ALL HE EVER WANTED was published in April 2003 with a first printing of 270,000 copies.- Hardcover ISBN: 0-316-78226-2

Synopsis:

A marriage is always two intersecting stories. This realization comes perhaps too late to the husband of Etna Bliss-a man whose obsession with his young wife begins at the moment of their first meeting, as he helps Etna and her companions escape from a fire in a hotel restaurant, and culminates in a marriage doomed by secrets and betrayal. Written with the intelligence and grace that are the hallmarks of Anita Shreve's bestselling novels, this gripping tale of desire, jealousy, and loss is peopled by unforgettable characters as real as the emotions that bring them together.

Synopsis:

A man reflects back on three decades of his obsession with an unknown and ultimately unknowable woman--his courtship of her, his marriage to her, and the unforgivable act that ripped their family apart.

Using the language of the 1800's, Anita Shreve weaves a tale of a man who becomes obsessed with a woman.
As the tale unwinds the reader is left to wonder where the story is going.
Excellent read.
