Publisher Comments:

Kristin Burns is making her way in New York City. Her photos are being considered at a major Manhattan gallery, she works by day with two wonderful children, and the man of her dreams is almost hers for keeps. But just as everything she's ever wanted is finally within reach, her life changes forever — with one murderous nightmare. Kristin wakes up every morning from the same chilling, unforgettable dream. And suddenly, it's visiting her during the day too. As her life turns stranger by the minute, Kristin is haunted and terrified. Is it all in her head? Or is the nightmare becoming her life? Kristin searches desperately for what's real through the lens of her camera, only knowing two things for sure: that no place is safe and the fate of everyone she loves lies in her hands.

Review:

"'The Patterson bestseller factory has turned out another high-drama thriller, this time in collaboration with Honeymoon coauthor Roughan. Kristin Burns, a New York City nanny and aspiring photographer, is devoted to the two children under her care, but her desire for their father, Michael Turnbull, leads her to a risky, torrid affair with him. Kristin's anxiety about her guilty secret is heightened by a series of frightening nightmares centering on a vision of four body bags being loaded onto gurneys in front of a prominent Manhattan hotel. Her nightmares also feature recurring encounters with dead people, including her father and the pediatrician who abused her as a child. Kristin's breathless, superficial narration doesn't generate a lot of reader sympathy or interest in figuring out the source of her macabre experiences. (Sept.)' Synopsis:

In Patterson's scariest stand-alone thriller ever, a young woman finds herself alone in New York City with murder in her dreams. Photographer Kristin Burns wakes up every morning from the same chilling nightmare and realizes that no place is safe, and the fate of everyone she loves lies in her hands.

Synopsis:

Kristin Burns has lived her life by the philosophy Don't think, just shoot--pictures, that is. Struggling to make ends meet, she works full-time as the nanny for the fabulously wealthy Turnbull family, looking after their two wonderful children and waiting for her glamorous life as a New York photographer to begin. When her photographs are considered by an elite Manhattan art gallery, it seems she might finally get the chance that will start her career.

But Kristin has a major distraction: forbidden love. The man of her dreams is almost hers for keeps. Breathless with an inexhaustible passion and the excitement of being within reach of her goals, Kristen ignores all signs of catastrophe brewing.

Fear exists for a reason. And Kristin can only dismiss the warnings for so long. Searching desperately for the truth through the lens of her camera, she can only hope that it's not too late. This novel of psychological suspense is a stunning achievement for thriller master James Patterson, one of the bestselling writers in history (New York Sun).

It is obvious Patterson is going for quantity & not quality in this bizarre but boring attempt @ infusing supernatural elements into You've Been Warned. I think he was trying to branch out into the supernatural arena -- maybe it was my mind trying to grasp the dreadfully peculiar happenings. Patterson's signature short chapters, speedy nonsensical storyline & ever present co-author is packaged into a snoozefest. You've Been Warned... Grab the Tylenol. Run away!!! I love Patterson's Alex Cross series but this novel is best stored away for when there is a toilet paper shortage!

I do not understand the bad reviews on this book. A friend passed it on to me to read and I started it at work during some down time and finished it at 1:00 p.m. the next morning! It's really spooky but I got so caught up in the story I could not put it down. Just when I thought I had the story figured out, it would change on me. Quite different and very enjoyable.

This is my firtst time commenting on anything. It is my way of letting this author know just how horrible this book was. Since Mr. Patterson has started having "co-authors", his books just have not been the same. Not that they have been as bad as You've Been Warned, but I haven't been able to suggest any of his latest books to any of my friends. It's a shame to see all that talent go to waste.
In this book, the author takes you on too many "twist-and-turns". After a while you just want off this horrible ride. I hung in their because of James Patterson's name being on the cover. Needless to say, I'm done. I will no longer buy a book because of the name on the cover. It is obvious that this ship has sailed. So sad. Give it a couple of years, Mr. Patterson, and come back alone.
