Publisher Comments:

Educated in the Florence of Cosimo de' Medici, trained in knighthood at his father's mountaintop castle, Vittorio inhabits a world of courtly splendor and country pleasures—a world suddenly threatened when his entire family is confronted by an unholy power.

In the midst of this upheaval, Vittorio is seduced by the beautiful and sinister vampire Ursula—setting in motion a chilling chain of events that will mark his life for eternity. Against a backdrop of the wonders—both sacred and profane—and the beauty and ferocity of Renaissance Italy, Anne Rice creates a passionate and tragic legend of doomed young love and lost innocence.

About the Author

ANNE RICE is the author of twenty-one books. She lives in New Orleans with her husband, the poet and painter Stan Rice.

i thought the story was beautiful, it went into depth of doomed love and and an extravagent tragety. i love the character vittorio, and i loved the fact that anne rice put a bit of youth into the story and a bit of dark humor and wit. the story does tend to drag on in places, wasnt really a problem but this book would not be good for the restless, impatient or stupid type. alot of reviews have said that in this book it tends to repeat the characteristic of other books but it was a point that the author was making...that when you live forever you become trapped in yourself and a pettern of life, and that in the end we should just love the way we are.come on im not evenold enough to drive (just 13 and imnot some freak whos pretending to be 13 i actually am like) and i got it what does that say!!i truly believe anne rice is one ofthe most brilliant writers of our time. she has even been able to creat a myth (well has made an old myth romantic, sexy funny and complex and has brought it up to date to our century.
