She won't rest until she's sent every walking corpse back to its grave.

Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that's all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real.

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn't careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.

BOOK 1 OF

THE WHITE RABBIT CHRONICLES

I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently. I'd tell my sister no. I'd never beg my mother to talk to my dad. I'd zip my lips and swallow those hateful words. Or, barring all of that, I'd hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time. I'd tell them I love them.

I wish... Yeah, I wish.

Review:

"'If they see you, they will chase you. And if they catch you, they will devour you.' Alice Bell's father warned her about the monsters that come out at night, but Ali doesn't believe him until she sees zombies kill her family. After relocating to a new town, 16-year-old Ali is relieved to discover that she isn't entirely on her own: it turns out that local bad boy Cole Holland and his rough crowd hunt zombies. In this kickoff to the White Rabbit Chronicles, Ali works to keep her remaining loved ones safe, decode ghostly warnings, learn new tricks to take down evil spirits, and figure out whether she's ready to get involved with the hottest guy she's ever known. Balancing graphic zombie fighting and complicated romantic relationships, Showalter (the Intertwined series) fleshes out this action-packed paranormal story with a giddy focus on the push-and-pull attraction between Ali and Cole and the nastier side of the high school social scene. The result is a zippy story with crossover appeal that highlights the power of guilt, faith, and self-confidence. Ages 14 — up. Agent: Deidre Knight, the Knight Agency." Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha " Michelle L. Olson:

I’m a huge fan of Gena Showalter, so when I heard that she was coming out with a new series I was extremely excited.

Let me start my review by saying that it's been hard for me to read YA novels lately after discovering the vast world of dark urban fantasy, paranormal romance & erotica out there. There are a couple series that I can't stray from however, and now I have a new one to add to the list of ones I won't be leaving behind.

Gena’s take on zombies was unique and captivating. She takes a more fantastical spin on the zombie phenomena and I found it utterly fascinating. Alice in Zombieland is truly a trip down the rabbit hole… :)

In true Gena Showalter fashion, the characters were well developed and engaging. Our heroine Alice starts out as a sheltered teen and ends up immersed in a multi-dimensional world full of grief, intrigue, mystery and danger. Our hero Cole is the consummate bad boy. He’s mysterious, dangerous, and sexy as sin (yes, I developed a completely inappropriate ‘cougar crush’ on our resident hero!). Together they have a chemistry that literally leaps off of the page, and as of yet… there are no love triangles or teen angst to be seen (a big win for me personally).

The world was solidly built, and the way that Gena unraveled the tale was perfect to keep the reader captivated and wanting more. The mysteries surrounding the world that is unveiled to Alice and the secrets that Cole is keeping kept me wanting more, page after page.

The other thing that I can always expect from Gena is amazing dialogue. Alice in Zombieland did not disappoint there either, and there were numerous times where I found myself laughing out loud at a one liner or descriptive used.

All in all this was an excellent first installment to Gena's new series. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next installment.

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Alice in Zombieland 4 Skulls and would recommend it to all YA Paranormal lovers and fans of Gena Showalter.
