Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

LOVE, STARGIRL picks up a year after Stargirl ends and reveals the new life of the beloved character who moved away so suddenly at the end of Stargirl. The novel takes the form of the "world's longest letter," in diary form, going from date to date through a little more than a year's time. In her writing, Stargirl mixes memories of her bittersweet time in Mica, Arizona, with involvements with new people in her life. In Love, Stargirl, we hear the voice of Stargirl herself as she reflects on time, life, Leo, and — of course — love.

Review:

"Fans of Stargirl will be charmed by this satisfying sequel." KLIATT

Review:

"Humor, graceful writing, lively characters and important lessons about life will make this a hit with...anyone who likes a quiet, reflective novel." Kirkus Reviews

Review:

"The many teens who loved the first book will embrace this sequel." Booklist

Love, Stargirl is a captivating book, Spinelli is genius! Letters to Leo is the whole book, and I was reading this book until about 11:00 at night! I had my nose in that book- like always- morning, noon, and night. Everyone who reads this book should love it!

At just a few days short of 57, I don't fit the age level for this one. But, I am thankful for the my sixth students who enlightened me about Stargirl five years ago. I gave the book to everyone I knew, including my adult reader's group. It was just perfect, in ways too personal to describe. Now she is back, telling her story. And what a story it is, totally satisfying for kids and adults. If you liked the first one, do not miss this one. I believe you will not be disappointed.
