Rain of Gold is an engrossing read that's full of tales both tall and true. Villaseñor has a way of getting to one's heart through the stories of his ancestors and the journey that leads to his parents meeting. The sequel, Thirteen Senses, is equally moving. In Rain of Gold, Victor Villasenor weaves the parallel stories of two families and two countries…bringing us the timeless romance between the volatile bootlegger who would become his father and the beautiful Lupe, his mother-men and women in whose lives the real and the fantastical exist side by side…and in whose hearts the spirit to survive is fueled by a familys unconditional love.
Victor Villaseñor is the author of the nonfiction books Wild Steps of Heaven and Jury: The People vs. Juan Corona. He has written several screenplays, including the award-winning The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez. Villasenor lives on the North Country San Diego ranch where he grew up.

Economic times are hard right now. This book will give you a wonderful new way to look at the world when things feel bleak. The characters will fill you with light and joy. I really loved this book. You will too. Pick it up and find a fresh start. It will make your day!
