My grandmother is always offering titles for me to read but rarely urges a book on me. When she does, I know I need to read it. This book is absolutely lovely. As far as I can tell, Elinore Pruitt Stewart had the best attitude in the world, and encapsulates not only the spirit of the Old American West but all the qualities we wish we could possess in this time: curiosity, a sense of adventure, a can-do attitude, strength of spirit, and a genuine love for neighbors and strangers alike. Her letters from Wyoming or so riddled with fate and happenstance that I can hardly believe they're true.
