Synopsis:

Though his father had been reluctant to become a heroic field operative, Jack Ryan, Jr. wants nothing more…

Privately training with special forces, he’s honing his combat skills to continue his work within the Campus, hunting down and eliminating terrorists wherever he can—even as Jack Ryan, Sr. campaigns to become President of the United States again.

But what neither father nor son knows is that the political and personal have just become equally dangerous. A devout enemy of Jack, Sr. launches a privately-funded vendetta to discredit him and connect him to a mysterious killing in his longtime ally John Clark’s past. All they have to do is catch him.

With Clark on the run, it’s up to Jack, Jr. to stop a growing threat emerging in the Middle East, where a corrupt Pakistani general has entered into a deadly pact with a fanatical terrorist to procure four nuclear warheads they can use to blackmail any world power into submission—or face annihilation.

Synopsis:

Tom Clancy's All-Star lineup is back. Jack Ryan, his son, Jack Jr., John Clark Ding Chavez and the rest of the Campus team are facing their greatest challenge ever.

Jack Ryan, Sr. has made a momentous choice. He's running for President of the United States again and thus giving up a peaceful retirement to help his country in its darkest hour. But he doesn't anticipate the treachery of his opponent, who uses trumped up charges to attack one of Ryan's closest comrades, John Clark.

Now, Clark is in a race against time and must travel the world, staying one step ahead of his adversaries, including a shadowy organization tasked to bring him in, all while trying to find who is behind this.

Meanwhile, Jack Ryan, Jr., Ding Chavez, Dominick Caruso and other members of the Campus-the top secret off-the-books intelligence agency founded by Jack Ryan during his first term in the White House-deal with a question of their own: Why is a Pakistani military officer meeting with Dagestani terrorists? The answer will ultimately lead to a desperate struggle, with nothing short of the fate of the world at stake.

Tom Clancy again finds a way to continue the story of the Ryan family, along with the rest of the colourful personalities we have come to know, without getting redundant. Clancy tortures his characters as well as anyone. The story is timely and relevant as always and he manages to bring together multiple story lines seamlessly for the conclusion. I was sorry to see it end and I eagerly await the next installment. No Clancy fan will be disappointed with his latest effort.

One of the best Clancy books in years. Not only do we get Jack Ryan Jr. & the Campus, but we get the original Jack Ryan as well. Jack Sr's mad at the current wimpy administration & lack of intelligence in the spy community so he decides to run for President again. John Clark & Domingo Chavez return as well!
