Publisher Comments:

NEWLY REVISED AND UPDATED

The Out-of-Sync Child broke new ground by identifying Sensory Processing Disorder, a common but frequently misdiagnosed problem in which the central nervous system misinterprets messages from the senses. This newly revised edition features additional information from recent research on vision and hearing deficits, motor skill problems, nutrition and picky eaters, ADHA, autism, and other related disorders.

Synopsis:

Children who have been labeled with words such as difficult, clumsy, and inattentive may actually be suffering from the often misdiagnosed Sensory Integration Disorder. This breakthrough guide, written by an expert in the field, explains how SI Dysfunction can be confused with ADD, learning disabilities, and other problems. The author helps parents recognize the problem and offers a drug-free treatment approach.

Description:

Includes bibliographical references (p. 312-314) and index.

A very thorough book, that provides great information on the theoretical piece and also quick tricks that help at home. I was able to implement a few of the suggestions after just skimming the book and amazingly meal time is already better for the whole family! Loved the questionnaire to evaluate my child's behaviors as well- gave me tons of great information!
