Reader be warned! You must be ready to drink lots & lots of coffee while reading this series! Clare Cosi, newly divorced but with the ex hanging around all the time, is the manager of The Village Blend coffee house. You'll love the characters in this series & you'll find yourself wanting to read the whole series! I just can't get enough of Clare & her ex-hubby & the hunky cop that Clare has turned into a gourmet coffee believer! Included in the book are many recommendations for a great brew of coffee & coffee cakes as well. You won't be able to put this book down until you finish the very last page!

Swing batter batter swing... We have a winner!!!

I am not a coffee connoisseur, but the aroma of a heady brew gets my blood boiling.

I love the potent bouquet that attacks my senses whenever I step foot inside a coffeehouse.

*Sigh*

I love to soak up the atmosphere ~ I sip on delicious hot tea, Poland water &/or grab a bite to eat ~ soup, panini... scones. Oh, those yummy desserts.

I relax, read, listen to music, poetry or tune into people engaging in conversations ~ ok, eavesdrop... =Q

I just like to settle in & marinate in the creative & energizing ambiance.

Clare Cosi is an absolute delight. She is not one of those amateur sleuths you wonder, "where'd she go to school ~ KoKo Puffs U". She is a charming, intelligent & witty protagonist.

Clare does not rely on anyone to be her superhero. Her cape is right next to the Sumatra in the storeroom.

All of the the impressive characters leap from the page. Oh, Matteo...

Joy, Madame, Matteo... *oops, back on track* Tucker, Detective Mike Quinn are absolutely compelling, expressive & irresistible.

I love how the coffee info is scattered throughout the book. Some complain this is annoying, but I don't find it irritating or distracting in the least.

On What Ground's is the 1st coffeehouse mystery & is a delightful, picturesque, sparkling, lighthearted cozy.

Now, I'm in the mood to visit a coffee bar & order an iced raspberry, bottle of Poland & a lemon raspberry bar.

Come to mama, baby.

Lucy Little, December 31, 2007 (view all comments by Lucy Little)
I like to have a series or two of easy-reading mysteries available when I want to take a break from heavier topics. The Coffeehouse Mysteries fit the bill. This is the first book of the series. It features Clare Cosi, manager of the Village Blend, and of course, amateur detective. As expected, there is a murder to be solved, but without the gruesomeness of true crime or hard core mysteries. Her love of coffee is interwoven throughout so grab a good cup to go with reading. My other favorites are Hailey Lind (for art lovers) and the classic Cat Who books by Lillian Jackson Braun.
