Jane on Her Ownby Ursula K Le Guin
Synopses & Reviews
Jane is the youngest of the five Catwings, cats who have wings and can fly. She lives on a farm with her brothers and sisters, but while they are content, she is restless and longs for adventure. Her sister Harriet warns her that "If human beings saw cats with wings, they'd put us in cages." But Jane refuses to listen... and when she flies to the city, she becomes the captive of a man who wants to make her a TV star. Jane has to figure out a way to escape, to regain her friends and her freedom.
Jane, the youngest of the catwings, goes looking for adventure in the big city and captured!
Longing for adventure, Jane, the youngest of the catwings, flies to the city on her own. When she flies through the window of a man who feeds here, she is suddenly captured, and finds herself making appearances as Miss Mystery, the fabulous winged cat! Realizing that being independent is much more dangerous than she thought, Jane plots her escape and hopes to reunite with her mother.
Now available individually in new digest sized paperback editions, the first four books in Le Guin's magical series chronicle four young cats with wings who leave the city slums in search of a safe place to live.
