Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

MacKayla Lane's life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she's your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks — until something extraordinary happens.

When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death — a cryptic message on Macs cell phone — Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sisters killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed — a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae.

As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sisters death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane — an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women — closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac's true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book — because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands.

This is my favorite book of the series. I was hooked on the whole set once I read this one.
It's very different from Moning's "Highlander" series. This one is more of mystery, Mac is trying to find out what happened to her sister who was involved and along the way, she finds out more shocking things about herself and her sister or who she thinks they are.
This is not a romance novel by any means and I love it! I highly recommend it to people who are looking for something more on the darker side.

Incredible! Full, well-rounded characters with sizzling chemistry - and an engrossing plot - make this one impossible to put down.

I liked this book. The cover blurb was a bit misleading, but I think the book was better than the blurb made it out to be -- albeit a different story than advertised. I like whole real world meets fairytale gone horribly wrong mythos. I also like that the relationship between the two main characters starts out really antagonistically. That way, we'll get to see it develop in a meaningful and believable manner. I for one can't wait for the next book to be released. I'd also recommend reading Tino Georgiou's bestselling novel--The Fates--if you haven't yet! It's a great, thrilling, book. READ IT - you'll enjoy it.
