Revelation Space is very good "high sci-fi," written by an author who has a real background in physics and interesting ideas about how our science could progress, especially the possible evolution of cybernetics and post-humanism. The book posits a strange parallelism between digital entities and the use of nano technology. It's also engaging and keeps you guessing till the very end. I would recommend this to any sci-fi head, especially those who like hard sci-fi.

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Hundreds of thousands of years ago, the Amarantin civilization was annihilated just as it was on the verge of space flight. Scientist Dan Sylveste is determined to solve the Amarantin riddle before ancient history repeats itself and he forges a deadly alliance with the cyborg crew of a spaceship. But as Sylveste closes in on a secret, a killer closes in on him. A "Locus" Best First Novel of the Year. (June)

I love the sci-fi genre and I am always on the lookout for great sci-fi novels, unfortunately I am often disappointed. Happily, this was not the case with this book. I was engrossed from being to end and loved every moment of it. The characters were fully realized and the settings were vibrant and real. The author's Ph.D in astronomy is obvious and lends the whole story a realistic quality that, in my experience, many other sci-fis lack. Definitely a must read for a fan of the genre.
