Publisher Comments:

On a dark road deep inside Russia, a young American tourist picks up a most unusual passenger — a U.S. P.O.W. on the run with an incredible secret to reveal to an unsuspecting world. The secret concerns the Charm School, a vast and astounding KGB conspiracy that stands poised against the very heartland of America. Arrayed against this renegade power of the Soviet state are three Americans: an Air Force officer, who will fly one last covert mission into the center of a mad experiment; an embassy liaison, who will have her hopes for a saner superpower balance brutally tested; and the chief of the CIA's Moscow station, who will find his intricate dance of destiny and death reaching its devastating conclusion.

About the Author

NELSON DEMILLE was born in New York City and moved as a child with his family to Long Island. In high school, he played football and ran track.

DeMille spent three years at Hofstra University, then joined the Army and attended Officer Candidate School. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and served in Vietnam as an infantry platoon leader with the First Cavalry Division.

DeMille returned to the States and went back to Hofstra University where he received his degree in Political Science and History. He married and had two children, divorced, and remarried.

DeMille's earlier books were NYPD detective novels. His first major novel was By the Rivers of Babylon, published in 1978 and still in print, as are all his succeeding novels. He is a member of The Authors Guild, the Mystery Writers of America, and American Mensa. He holds three honorary doctorates: Doctor of Humane Letters from Hofstra University, Doctor of Literature from Long Island University, and Doctor of Humane Letters from Dowling College.

DeMille and his daughter Lauren collaborated on "Revenge and Rebellion," a short story available in the Pocket Books anthology, Mary Higgins Clark Presents: The Plot Thickens.

Excellent read! Full of conspiracy in Russia with wonderful dialogue and very interesting description of Russia and the ways of the people. Americans working in Russia, a very scary place to be! Not your ordinary charm school run by KGB secretly and discovered by a tourist who needs the embassy now! Very gripping story line. The first I ever read of Nelson DeMille but an author I will be looking for in the future.
