Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Clairvoyant Cassie Plamer has inherited new magical powers — including the ability to travel through time. But it's a whole lot of responsibility she'd rather not have. Now she's the most popular girl in town, as an assortment of vamps, fey, and mages try to convince, force, or seduce her — and her magic — over to their side. But one particular master vampire didn't ask what Cassie wanted before putting a claim on her. He had a spell cast that binds her to him, and now she doesn't know if what she feels for him is real-or imagined...

Review:

"A fair maiden tough enough to kick [vampire] butts." Rebecca York, USA Today bestselling author Shadow of the Moon

Review:

"An engaging heroine." Kelley Armstrong, USA Today bestselling author of Broken

Synopsis:

Youd think that being chief seer for the supernatural world would come with a few perks. But as Cassie Palmer has learned, being Pythia doesnt mean you dont have to do things the hard way. Thats why she finds herself on a rescue mission skipping through time—even though she doesnt entirely understand her dimension-bending new power.

Rescuing her friend John Pritkin should have been an in-and-out kind of deal, but with the near-immortal mages soul lost in time, Cassie has to hunt for it through the ages—with Pritkins demon dad in tow. Hes the only one who can reverse Pritkins curse, but with the guardians of the timeline dead set on stopping anyone from mucking about, Cassie will have to figure out how to get her friend back without ruffling too many feathers—or causing a world-ending paradox or two....

Synopsis:

Being a goddess is a lot less fun than you might think. Especially when youre only a half goddess, and you only found out about it recently, and you still dont know what youre doing half the time. And when youve just used your not-so-reliable powers to burglarize the booby-trapped office of a vampire mob boss.

Yeah, that part sucks.

But thats just the tip of the iceberg for Cassandra Palmer, aka the Pythia, the freshly minted chief seer of the supernatural world. After all, Cassie still has to save a friend from a fate worse than death, deal with an increasingly possessive master vampire, and prevent a party of her own acolytes from unleashing a storm of fury upon the world. Totally just your average day at the office, right?

Cassandra Palmer is heir to title of Pythia, the world's strongest clairvoyant. Normally the heir would be trained from birth, but Cassie isn't exactly normal. Being raised by vampires and living on the run have turned Cassie into someone on the fringes of every kind of society, not to mention that the whole being clairvoyant and seeing ghosts isn't exactly helpful if you want to blend in. Even worse she discovers that a powerful vampire put a spell on her to warn off any would be suiters and that a rouge wanna-be Pythia is trying to kill her. She has to try and take out the girl who is after her, while carefully avoiding any contact with men that the spell thinks may be a threat.

Karen Chance's first book was quite good, with only minor problems; this one is much better. Chance keeps the fab characters and interesting, high speed plot but fixes her pacing problems and her writing flows much more smoothly. I was delighted that I was correct and the author just needed to work through the kinks to write a brilliant story.
