Synopsis:

More than 70 ways to enjoy cocktail hour–without worrying about the calories

For people watching their weight, enjoying the occasional cocktail can be a problem, since the average mixed drink contains over 300 calories. Now Teresa Howes comes to the rescue with scores of cocktail recipes that average only 142 calories each–but have the same great flavor and alcohol content as their full-calorie counterparts. From a Skinny Appletini and a Skinny Cosmopolitan to a Skinny Mojito and a Skinny Margarita, these guilt-free drinks feature low-sugar or sugar-free mixers, fresh fruit, and other clever ways to cut the calories. With 39 beautiful color photographs plus a section on diet-friendly drinks people can order at a bar or restaurant, SkinnyTinis is a must-have guide for weight-conscious social drinkers everywhere.

Synopsis:

"How do we maintain or lose weight without giving up small pleasures in life like a night out on the town with the girls or a stiff martini after a long day at the office? That was the question that prompted me to begin looking at alcohol differently. Instead of trying to avoid it, I'd prefer to find ways to modify recipes and habits so I can still enjoy my favorites. Hence the advent of SkiinnyTinis! I was so proud of my concoctions and revelations that I felt compelled to share them with the rest of the social drinkers who share my struggle. The recipes in this book have been tested, and users have rated them just as tasty as their high-calorie counterparts (if not tastier). The only difference? They have less than half the calories."

About the Author

Teresa Marie Howes is an expert in nutrition with a career in the weight-loss industry. Although she's always known the "right" things to do to stay trim, like many, she's struggled with actually following through. Her very active social life in San Diego, coupled with her career in weight loss, led her to recognize how much women battle with social drinking when it comes to balancing fun with their figures.
Throughout her career, Teresa found that it's more effective to empower people to live long, healthy lives without having to sacrifice everyday joys. Instead of telling clients to give up certain foods and activities, her approach is to find creative solutions and small modifications to habits that allow women struggling with their weight to continue enjoying life's little pleasures.
That's why she's so passionate about SkinnyTinis. Through recipe books, skinnytinis.com, and small class instruction, she's on a mission to show social drinkers that they truly can have all the fun for half the calories!
