This is the sequel to ’Wildwood Dancing,' which I also loved. In this one, the second youngest sister, Paula, accompanies her merchant father on a business trip to Istanbul. Her father’s secretary falls ill and as a scholar, Paula is the best person to fill his shoes. They were hired by a collector of artifacts to buy something called Cybele’s Gift that would be going up for sale in secret. Paula, her bodyguard Stoyan, and a former pirate named Duarte get mixed up in a big mystery and end up going on a quest to return the artifact to a secret community of Cybele’s worshippers.

This book was awesome! It didn’t have quite the breakneck pace that the first book had, but I still couldn’t stop reading it all the same. It’s more of a mystery than the first book, especially in the first half. But it’s got all the same fairytale quest goodness that I loved in the first one, so I’m happy. And it seemed to be open-ended enough for a sequel (maybe starring baby sister Stela?), which makes me hopeful. Cute book, loved it!
