THE AMATEUR STARGAZER'S ULTIMATE HOME COMPANION

365 Starry Nights is a unique and fascinating introduction to astronomy designed to give you a complete, clear picture of the sky every night of the year. Divided into 365 concise, illustrated essays, it focuses on the aesthetic as well as the scientific aspects of stargazing. It offers the most up-to-date information available, with hundreds of charts, drawings, and maps-that take you beyond the visible canopy of stars and constellations into the unseen realm of nebulae and galaxies.

This simple yet substantial text is full of critical information and helpful hints on how to observe the stars; describe their position; calculate their age, brightness, and distance; and much more. Whether you observe the sky with a telescope or the naked eye, 365 Starry Nights makes the infinite intimate and brings the heavens within your grasp. Keep this invaluable, informative guide close at hand, and you'll find that the sky is the limit 365 nights a year.

Wise Child Learning, November 23, 2012 (view all comments by Wise Child Learning)
We love this book. I personally have used this book with my family, with children in learning programs, and for myself for years. In these pages one experiences the shifting seasons through the night skies, learning everything from folklore, to some very detailed aspects of astronomy. It is easy to enter this text wherever you are in your interest and knowledge of stars, whether you are a parent wanting to share the magic of stars with children, or an older child or adult fascinated by our magnificent universe, visible to us here on earth. All of us, young and old, are fascinated by diagrams comparing the sizes of distant objects with our own sun, and their physical relationship to us (distances), which is not how they appear when we look at the night sky. And who hasn't been mystified by the people and animals ancient peoples have seen in the sky! May this book inspire you and your children to envision your own tales, or consider exploring native lore about the constellations, as well as to just hang out under the stars on a clear night!
