Rediscovery of North America is essential reading for people interested in the political / cultural /natural resources melancholy in the U.S. It clears the air, brings forward a dim memory of something missing, a longing for story that may hold cultural truth and clues about our malaise. What happened here? Lopez throws down the gauntlet. Be brave. Read this. Grow large in the land and responsible and compassionate. It is an eloquent compliment from Lopez that he believes we want and deserve this information.
