About the Author

Dreena Burton is a stay-at-home mother of three. Vegan since 1995, she is the author of The Everyday Vegan, Vive le Vegan, and Eat, Drink & Be Vegan. She lives outside of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Dreena Burton has been vegan since 1995, and has written several cookbooks already full of delicious, healthy vegan recipes. Now her newest book, "Let Them Eat Vegan!," contains over two hundred new, delicious, satisfying recipes. All are plant-based, and the author makes a point of catering to various other dietary needs: most of the baked goods are gluten-free, and many are soy-free as well. There are recipes to cover every possible occasion: breakfast (Cocoa Goji Granola), sauces & dips (Raw-nch Dressing), soup (Pureed Apple, Celeriac, and Sweet Potato Soup), burgers (Too-Good-to-Be-Tofu Burgers), cookies (Almond Cardamom Toffee Cookies), and more! One of the biggest issues many might have with this book is the fact that most of the recipes are gluten-free; while this is fabulous for people who have an intolerance to gluten and who may already have an extensive collection of gluten-free flours, most regular people cannot afford to buy spelt flour (or even know where to get it from). Despite this, though, Burton's cookbook has a lot of appeal. The recipes sound delicious (even if some contain “elitist” ingredients), and the pictures are truly mouthwatering. Recommended for the health-conscious home cook.
