Publisher Comments:

Former Manhattan sex crimes prosecutor Linda Fairstein pens her most electrifying Alex Cooper mystery to date: a New York Times bestseller of mummies and murder set in New York City's most venerable museums. When Manhattan's Metropolitan Museum of Art and American Museum of Natural History celebrate their first-ever joint exhibition, it proves to be interesting. But "interesting" is too mild a description when Assistant D.A. Alexandra Cooper is pulled aside at the festivities by museum director Pierre Thibodaux. An ancient Egyptian sarcophagus, about to be shipped on loan to a foreign institution, has been opened. Inside lies not a mummified princess who died thousands of years ago, but a very recently deceased scholar, Katrina Grooten. Who killed her, and why? Is Grooten's death connected to her research at one of the museums? Full of surprising events that are as atmospheric as they are downright scary, The Bone Vault contrasts crime and culture in a page-turning tale that is one of Linda Fairstein's finest.

Synopsis:

In the Metropolitan Museum of Art's exquisite Temple of Dendur, a monument to an ancient world, a very modern debate is raging at a gala dinner: a controversial new exhibit is fiercely opposed by many among the upper echelon of museum donors. Alex Cooper steps into this highly charged ring of power players only to make a much more troubling discovery: a young museum researcher has been murdered, her body shipped to the Met in an ancient Egyptian sarcophagus. Together with cops Mike Chapman and Mercer Wallace, Alex must penetrate the realm of the city's cultural elite to find a killer intent on keeping some secrets buried for eternity.

Synopsis:

Now in paperback--the "New York Times" bestseller featuring Assistant D.A. Alexandra Cooper, who investigates a murder rooted in a joint exhibition between two of New York City's most magnificent museums.
