The Vanished Man (Lincoln Rhyme Novels)by Jeffery Deaver
Imagine a killer who's a cross between Hannibal Lecter and David Copperfield!?! Yes, really. I didn't discover Deaver until I read The Vanished Man, his latest. Now I'm a major fan. It's a top-notch thriller and you'll never again watch a magic show quite the same way.

"A prime Deaver book, not as horrifying as The Bone Collector or Coffin Dancer but just as thrilling, with laughter and gasps of shock assured. And Deaver just doesn't let up with the plot twists." John Orr, San Jose Mercury News
"[W]ith a simple wave of his word-processing wand [Deaver] continues to resuscitate a tired genre with this often brilliant and starkly original cat-and-mouse game." Jon Land, Providence Journal

"Jeffrey Deaver is one of our major authors in the genres of the thriller and the police procedural because he excels at both plotting and characterization." Pohla Smith, Pittsburgh Post Gazette
"Deaver's craftsmanship is first-rate as always and his research into the professional world of magic and illusion is not only informative but also compelling....Deaver with The Vanished Man continues to surprise, enchant and enthrall." Joe Hartlaub, BookReporter.com
