About the Author

Author Ronald Luis Bonewitz, PhD, has been a geologist, prospector, miner, and gem cutter, in addition to working as a pilot and flying instructor. Still a collector, cutter, and dealer in gem crystals, he has written extensively on ancient history and mythology.

Consultant Margaret W. Carruthers is a science writer and editor based in Baltimore, Maryland. She holds a B.S. in Natural Resources and an M.S. in Geology. Margaret is the author of seven Earth and space science books, and has edited numerous others.
