About the Author

Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1875) was born in Denmark and is famously known for his fairy tales, such as The Snow Queen, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperors New Clothes, The Little Mermaid, and many more. His first fairy tales were published in 1835. He has delighted generations of children worldwide ever since.

Charles Santore is a nationally acclaimed illustrator whose works appear regularly in magazines. He is a recipient of the Society of Illustrators Award of Excellence, the Hamilton King Award, and the Alumni Award of the Philadelphia College of Art. His works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the Free Library of Philadelphia, and in many private collections. He lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
