Ingrid in the Couve, July 21, 2011 (view all comments by Ingrid in the Couve)
I picked this book up to read with my 6 year old daughter before bed each the evening. I did a preliminary read-through to insure the content was appropriate, and found it hard to put down. I didn't come with high expectations as I knew nothing of the author or the storyline (although I was aware it had been made into a movie), but I immediately fell in love with the characters, their voices, and the relationships they wove with each other. I found it honest and touching, and at one particularly moving point, struggled not to tear up during my morning commute on the bus. I have since recommended it to multiple people, and I was enthusiastic to immediately re-read it, as I intended, with my daughter.
