Darkness wars with darkness as the hard-bitten men of the Black Company take their pay and do what they must. They bury their doubts with their dead. Then comes the prophecy: The White Rose has been reborn, somewhere, to embody good once more.

This omnibus edition of one of the great fantasy epics collects The Black Company, Shadows Linger and The White Rose into one volume.

“With the Black Company series Glen Cook single-handedly changed the face of fantasy—something a lot of people didnt notice and maybe still dont. He brought the story down to a human level, dispensing with the cliché archetypes of princes, kings, and evil sorcerers. Reading his stuff was like reading Vietnam War fiction on peyote.”—Steven Erikson, author of Gardens of the Moon

There are no heroes in the Black Company, only men who are doing their best to survive.
The best way to do that, is to bury your conscience with your dead.

This is the first three books chronicling the exploits of The Black Company and is a complete narrative tale.

Glen Cook changed fantasy and sci-fi writing forever with his tale of a military unit dedicated to surviving by being the best. Unlike most stories where you follow along with the hero, or the villain, as they battle for supremacy through the destruction of the other, this is a tale of those who are little more than pawns on the field of battle. They can see only that part of the great plan which is in front of them.

Great characters, who are human and flawed, trying to survive among the powerful, scheming, and treacherous.
