Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

What works from dawn until dusk without a break until it delivers all its freight? A very busy steam engine, which in this rhythmical romp takes young readers on a daily adventure around the mountains, high and steep, and through the valley, low and deep.

Review:

"Kirk's dramatically shaded, panoramic paintings revel in the toys' bold shapes and colors as well as in the disparate relationships of their sizes to one another and to the environment. He gives the classic subject matter an up-to-the-minute look." Publishers Weekly

Review:

"Perfect for reading aloud, the story also works as a bedtime selection." School Library Journal

Synopsis:

Suzy, January 6, 2010 (view all comments by Suzy)
My family loves this book. My son received this board book as a baby from a good friend of ours. We read it to him often because of his immediate reaction. The book has a wonderful rhythmic melody and colorful pictures that bring delight to children. I have purchased this book for five newborns and all the parents said their child had the same response as my son did. My son is now six years old and a great reader partly due to the introduction of this wonderful book at a young age. "Chugga-Chugga Choo- Choo" is one of the few board books my son has kept. He plans on giving it to his son.
