Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A scientific experiment begins, and as the button is pressed, the unexpected occurs: everyone in the world goes to sleep for a few moments while everyone's consciousness is catapulted more than twenty years into the future. At the end of those moments, when the world reawakens, all human life is transformed by foreknowledge.

Review:

"This first-rate, philosophical journey, a terrific example of idea-driven SF, should have wide appeal." Publishers Weekly

Review:

"Sawyer...brings a fresh and startling approach to the familiar theme of time travel in a tale that explores the repercussions of knowing the future." Library Journal

Review:

"The reliable Sawyer turns in another solid performance." Booklist

Review:

"Sawyer is a writer of boundless confidence and bold scientific extrapolation." The New York Times Book Review

Synopsis:

The Aurora Award-winning novel that started it all!

FLASH FORWARD

Two minutes and seventeen seconds that changed the world

Suddenly, without warning, all seven billion people on Earth black out for more than two minutes. Millions die as planes fall from the sky, people tumble down staircases, and cars plow into each other.

But thats the least of the survivors challenges. During the blackout, everyone experienced a glimpse of what his or her future holds—and the interlocking mosaic of these visions threatens to unravel the present.
