Book News Annotation:

The author of An Encyclopedia of Shade Perennials (2002) now offers a portable guide. To help gardeners make the most of shady spots, Schmid defines "shade" and gives tips for growing shade-tolerant plants in containers as well as the ground. Entries with color photos describe plants from Acanthus mollis to Woodwardia varieties. He includes lists of plants for specific purposes, zone hardiness maps, North American and UK nursery sources, and a glossary.
