About the Author

Mark Turner is Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland and Associate Director of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences.

Phyllis Gustafson ran a small seed-collection business specializing in Northwest natives and has worked with native plants in the nursery trade for more than 20 years. She is an officer of the North American Rock Garden Society (NARGS) and writes frequently for their bulletin.

Moving to a country property 2 years ago, we have found this book to be a treasure. We also take it along on road trips from the coast to the desert in Oregon, Washington and California. There is a broad range of flowers covered, the photographs are beautiful and it is user friends, categorized in an easy to follow color section format. Of course not every flower imaginable is in this book but most of them are!

This is a must have for the rural property homeowner and the traveler that says "Hey, what is that flower?"

I wanted a new wildflower ID book for hikes and post-hike wildflower identification. 'Nature' greeting cards created from my digital phots cry out for correct flower names. This one book insures that more of my flower finds are suitably named; besides it is a beautiful volume and, not too big for a small pack.
