Synopses & Reviews

Book News Annotation:

Takes readers on a voyage of discovery along the Columbia River and summarizes the history of the Columbia from its "discovery" in 1792 to the modern era of dams. A fast paced narrative and a wealth of color photos, many taken from boats, capture the essence of the historic waterway and its personality as a beautiful and sometimes dangerous river. Published in conjunction with the Columbia River Maritime Museum (the very low price suggests a subsidy). The author teaches history at the University of Idaho. He has compiled a sizeable collection of film images during his voyages along the Columbia and Snake Rivers since 1991.
