Publisher Comments:

This highly anticipated sequel to Rodkey's much-praised debut is funny, heartfelt, and action-packed. Don't miss it!

After a narrow escape from Deadweather Island, Egg and his slightly deranged partner Guts head for the remote New Lands. They’re in search of the lost Okalu tribe, who hold the key to the mysterious treasure map that Egg can't decipher. But the ruthless Roger Pembroke is hard on Egg's trail, and the New Lands are full of new enemies—against which our heroes' only weapons are their brains, their courage...and the two dozen swear words Guts just memorized in the local tongue.

They're going to need help. But who can they trust? Is Kira, the beautiful and heavily armed Okalu refugee, their ally…or their enemy? Is Pembroke's daughter Millicent on Egg's side…or her father's? Why on earth is the notorious pirate Burn Healy being so nice to them? And the biggest question of all: what shocking secret is Egg about to discover in the shadow of an ancient Okalu temple?

Synopsis:

Featuring cover art from 20th Century Fox's feature film adaptation, opening in theaters on February 12 and starring Uma Thurman and Pierce Brosnan, the first novel in the bestselling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is a non-stop thrill-ride and a classic of mythic proportions.

Synopsis:

Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

With cover art from the major motion picture, this first installment of Rick Riordan's best-selling series is a non-stop thrill-ride and a classic of mythic proportions.

Review of The Lightning Thief

"Say hello to the son of Poseidon." Amazing is it not. Imagine yourself having AMAZING powers and not knowing them until you are thirteen. Not only this, but you have also been kicked out of 6 schools, each for every year. This is what it is like to be Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson is the son of Poseidon and is being accused of stealing The Master Lightning Bolt belonging to Zeus. The only problem with this accusation is that Percy has never known he was a demigod, (this means that one is a half god and half human,) and now he has to find it before the Summer Solstice or Zeus and Poseidon will get into a war making the Trojan one look like to babies fighting of food. I would recommend this to anyone from the ages of 8 to 16. This is a great book and you should be warned that once you pick up this book it will cause you endless of nights of reading.

It brings back the Greek myths in an enjoyable way. I hope this series of books will renew interest in the myths.
The book is enjoyable and reminds me of the Harry Potter series.
