A love story, an adventure, and an epic of the frontier, Larry McMurtry’s Pulitzer Prize— winning classic, Lonesome Dove, the third book in the Lonesome Dove tetralogy, is the grandest novel ever written about the last defiant wilderness of America.

Journey to the dusty little Texas town of Lonesome Dove and meet an unforgettable assortment of heroes and outlaws, whores and ladies, Indians and settlers. Richly authentic, beautifully written, always dramatic, Lonesome Dove is a book to make us laugh, weep, dream, and remember.

If you are willing read an 800-page book, Lonesome Dove is a fun and heart-wrenching read. It is so much fun to follow along with these like-able and not-so-like-able characters. You laugh with them and wince at them and cry for them. I definitely read about half the book in 3 days, and do not regret staying up until 2:30 to finish it!

This is a story that even people who don't like "westerns" will stay up late reading. I couldn't get through it fast enough. I then read the rest of the books in the series.
