If the writer in you were to produce the perfect book on serious design, building and lasting frame construction, from pouring the foundation on the ground, to framing and finishing to the top of the roof, the book would want to be overflowing with exquisite hand drawings and concise descriptions of the building sequence, one you could easily follow and grasp. It would have to have the words graphic, guide, framing, and construction in its title. But… Rob Thallon already wrote it; “Graphic Guide to Framing Construction” – everything you will ever need to know about Framing Construction. Perhaps you could write the next great novel as an alternative. Rob Thallon wrote this book for all the builders and designers in all of us, everyone fascinated and interested in the art of building. Inside you'll find meticulous hand drawn drawings, each illustrating the many building processes, along with commentary on every detail and material you will need to be familiar with, whether you are an architect, contractor, student or do-it-yourselfer. It is a pleasure to read, and can be used as a simple uncomplicated reference. The author provides a wonderful understanding of the sequence of building the framed structure and its interface with the rest of the construction that makes up a building – the windows, doors, finishes, etc. He presents common and alternative details for use with different materials and comments on code, design and construction concerns one might need to address. It is truly a graphic guide to framing construction and a work of art.
