About the Author
Christopher Brickell, Editor-in-Chief, has been Director General of the Royal Horticultural Society since 1985. He began his career with the Society in 1958, and became Director of Wisley Garden in 1969. In addition to lecturing in Britain and abroad, he has contributed to many horticultural and botanical reference works. Among his awards are the Victoria Medal of Honour and the Grey Robert White Medal of Honor, conferred in Boston in 1988. Elvin McDonald, Editor-in-Chief, serves on the board of directors of the American Horticultural Society and was formerly the Director of Special Projects at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in New York. The author of more than 40 books on horticulture and gardening, he consults throughout the United States. He lives in Houston, Texas. Trevor Cole, Consulting Editor, is Curator of the Dominion Arboretum in Ottawa, past President of the Ottawa Horticultural Society, and past Director of the Ontario Rock Garden Association and the Garden Writers Association. Writer and consultant for many home gardening publications, he is the author of The Ontario Gardener and was chief consultant for the Illustrated Guide to Gardening in Canada. He lives in Kinburn, Ontario.
