Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school — it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's the very place where they're most in danger....

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi — the worlds fiercest and most dangerous vampires — make Lissa one of them forever.

Review:

"Occasional steamy sex and a scattering of vulgar language demand mature readers, but teens able to handle the edgy elements will speed through this vamp story and anticipate the next installment." Booklist

Review:

"With social angst that every teenager can appreciate and sexual tension that leaves Stephenie Meyer's Twilight...looking like a children's book, this little gem is sure to be a hit." VOYA

An engaging tale by Mead that never fails to stir the imagination and the mind. Mead manages to bring her vampires to life with talent akin to Stephanie Meyer's adored Twilight tale.

This book easily made it's way to the top of my favorite books list. Richelle Mead is an excellent author making this a "trouble of the heart" book.

Yet another of my favorite vampire books. =) I love Rose's assurtiveness and that she acts mainly on impulse (I have that problem myself). Lissa is almost too inocent for me. I do love that she doesnt care about what people think about her relationship with Christian, though.
