Book News Annotation:

Seemingly one of the more intimidating plants to incorporate into a garden, this beautifully illustrated guide shows how cactus are in fact remarkably easy to grow and certain to provide excitement to the garden's design, whether in the ground or in containers. Calhoun, a garden designer based in Tucson, Arizona, has selected 100 types of cactus, dividing them according to shape, and providing clear guidelines as to the hardiness, native habitat, mature size, flowering season, cultivation, and culinary value of each plant. He includes an initial description of each plant's history and design attributes, providing design suggestions, including frequent suggestions for companion plantings.
