Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A history of humanity through the highly-coloured lens of eroticism

Erotica Universalis offers us a history of humanity through the highly-coloured lens of eroticism, which has always been very important for art and artists. Alongside the works of famous artists, this book returns to their rightful place a number of unknown or neglected masterpieces till now consigned to obscurity by prejudice and taboo.

Review:

"Refreshing in that the penis has not been airbrushed out. The book has an encyclopaedic quality–but it is not without laughs." The Irish Times

This is an absolutely grand collection of erotic art--for those who enjoy browsing through the pages of history, and who are not offended by graphic description of sex/nudity. Many happy hours have been spent at my house, thumbing the pages. If I were to offer a criticism, wish the book was a bit larger, but liked it enough that I just ordered Volume 2.
