Synopses & Reviews
In the early 20th century, two movements emerged that were to define Dutch design of the early 20th century: de Stijl ('the Style') and de Amsterdamse School ('the Amsterdam School'). De Stijl was the minimal and modernist of the two. De Amsterdamse School, on the other hand, broke with rational convention and allowed for the frivolous use of ornament. Amsterdam 1900-1930 contains a visual guide to the design methodology used by graphic designers, architects and artists at the time and hundreds of examples of designs from the first three decades of the 20th century. CD with designs included.
AMSTERDAM 19001920 contains a unique collection of ornamentation and surface pattern designs that are typical of the graphic and applied arts in the Netherlands at the beginning of the 20th century. Many design elements are included which make it very easy to create new patterns in this style. All designs are ready to use on the included CD.
