An introduction for non-technical end users to the Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), a tool for the creation of "smart documents," i.e., dynamically formatted files that can be presented on paper or on screen; via CD-ROM; or electronically over networks and the World Wide Web. The accompanying disk contains SGMLab, a viewer that allows users to validate and view SGML documents; a collection of sample documents; and a World Wide Web page with links to sites containing HTML and other SGML-related information.
