Synopses & Reviews

Book News Annotation:

Those who have interest in old tools--interest enough to contemplate collecting such things (and their number appears to be increasing)--will have interest in this book. Short sections treat the materials used in tools, cleaning/restoring/displaying tools, buying antique tools. Also to be found here are a short but quite useful bibliography, and a list of antique tool clubs and organizations. But the value of the book derives mainly from its nearly 300 plates. Unfortunately, the items pictured are seldom identified with any precision (nor has any attempt been made to indicate their value in the existing market), so for hard data the collector must expect to turn to other sources.
