This collection of poems, rich in irony, sensuousness, and pleasure, reveals his robust, humorous, earthy, and cerebral view of reality and his exploration of all regions and sensibilities of American life. About the AuthorRodney Jones was born in northern Alabama and is now a professor of English at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. A former Guggenheim fellow, he received the National Book Critics Circle Award for poetry in 1990. His most recent of six other collections, Elegy for the Southern Drawl, received the Southeastern Booksellers Association Award for poetry in 1999. Jones"s poems have appeared in the Atlantic Monthly, the Georgia Review, the Southern Review, and other periodicals, and in five annual editions of The Best American Poetry.
