Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Just expanded and revised (1969) by the United States Navy as a training course text, this book now provides an even more thorough coverage of the basic theory of electricity and its applications . It is unquestionably the best book of its kind for either broad or more limited studies of electrical fundamentals.

It is divided in to 21 chapters and an extensive section of appendixes. Chapters cover safety, fundamental concepts of electricity, baueries, electromagnetism and magnetic circuits, introduction to alternating-cu rent electricity, inductance, capacitance, inductive and capacitive reactance, fundamental alternating-current circuit theory, circuit protective and control devices, electrical indicating instruments, alternating-current generators and transformers, alternating-current motors, direct current genera tors, direct-current motors, magnetic amplifiers, and synchros and servomechanisms. Appendixes acquaint the layman with common terms, abbreviations, ·component color-code, and more.

Synopsis:

Originally a training course; best nontechnical coverage. Topics include batteries, circuits, conductors, AC and DC, inductance and capacitance, generators, motors, transformers, amplifiers, etc. Many questions with answers. 349 illustrations. 1969 edition.

Synopsis:

Used by the United States Navy as a training course text, BASIC ELECTRICITY provides thorough coverage of the basic theory of electricity and its applications. An excellent text for both classroom use and home-study, or resource for layman or licensed electrician. Fully illustrated throughout.

I was in the Navy Training as an electrician back in 1975, shortly after this edition came out. I trained with this course and it is very thorough, very easy to read and understand. If you want to refresh your mind with basic electronics or learn the very basics, this is the book. Discusses, ohm's law, watt's law, resistor color code chart, DC and AC and much more! I highly recommend it!
