Synopses & Reviews

Review:

"...A remarkable piece of work, as comprehensive as anything I've seen, about how the life process unfolds from infancy, through middle age, to the later years. The midlife roadblocks that can stymie us into surrender or challenge us to greatness are carefully explored — and much appreciated by me." Darrell Sifford, author of The Only Child

Review:

"The Sandwich Generation is a refreshing, direct, and easy-to-read book. It is an excellent, well-written, highly accurate guide through the stages of life from the perspective of middle age. It provides outstanding information and advice through clearly written and simply formulated case histories with which the reader can identify. In addition, Zal reviews efforts to define the stages of life, the conflict of generations, and both the positive and negative aspects of growth and development. This book represents the rare combination of lucid, well-described information on the life processes and interactions of successful middle-aged people, their children, and their parents, and an enlightening, erudite review of the advances in psychiatry over the past fifty years." Paul Jay Fink, M.D., Medical Director, Philadelphia Psychiatric Center
