Publisher Comments:

After getting kicked out of school and sent to live with her grandmother, Sabine Rose is determined to become a "normal" teenage girl. She hides her psychic powers from everyone, even from her grandmother Nona, who also has "the gift." Having a job at the school newspaper and friends like Penny-Love, a popular cheerleader, have helped Sabine fit in at her new school. She has even managed to catch the eye of the adorable Josh DeMarco.

Yet, Sabine can't seem to get the bossy voice of Opal, her spirit guide, out of her head...or the disturbing images of a girl with a dragonfly tattoo. Suspected of a crime she didn't commit, Sabine must find the strength to defend herself and, later, save a friend from certain danger.

Review:

"Well-packaged light chills should make this a hit with teen girls." Sherry Hoy, KLIATT

Synopsis:

After being expelled from school and sent away to live with her grandmother, Sabine Rose is determined to become a normal teenage girl. She fits right in at her new school--making friends and even catching the eye of the adorable Josh DeMarco. No one suspects Sabine is hiding psychic abilities, except her grandma Nona, who also has the gift. But try as she might, Sabine simply can't ignore the compelling images that creep into her head. A girl with a dragonfly tattoo in certain danger ... a broken-hearted soul seeking revenge ... an angry spirit trapped for eternity... the spirit of a former classmate with urgent warnings... With help from Opal, her spirit guide, she solves the mystery that each vision brings, while trying to cope with problems in her own life-like finding a cure for her beloved Nona who's suffering from a fatal hereditary illness. Filled with sharp observations about friendship, family, romance, and self-discovery, Linda Joy Singleton writes candidly about the painful process of growing up with an extraordinary talent.

About the Author

With plots involving twins, cheerleaders, ghosts, psychics and clones, Linda Joy Singleton has published over 25 midgrade and YA books.

When she's not writing, she enjoys life in the country with a barnyard of animals including horses, cats, dogs and pigs. She especially loves to hear from readers and speaking at schools and libraries. She collects vintage series books like Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden and Judy Bolton.

When Linda is asked why she'd rather write for kids than adults, she says, "I love seeing the world through the heart of a child, where magic is real and every day begins a new adventure. I hope to inspire them to reach for their dreams. Writing for kids is a gift, a responsibility, and an honor."

"I read this young adult book in one day! Maybe because I am twice as old as the suggested reader. I don't care though, because it helped me escape into a world of the paranormal. Sabine is a young girl trying to find her way in life with a secret that she hides only to protect herself from becoming the outcast she was in her former school. She finds her way through her mundane life and finds love, friends and people who really like her for who she is. And someone she needs to trust to help her Grandmother. It helps the reader believe that even if your down and out there is always something out there about yourself that lets the real you shine through.

Perfect for young readers because it's not overtly romantic or crude... Some elements of love/like but a kiss is as far as it goes.

I would recommend this to my young friends and nieces... I will save this for my little one for when she is ready...

A++++

Can't wait for the next book to be delivered!"
