The section on greenhouse technology includes discussions of the controlled flowering of herbaceous perennial plants, a demonstration greenhouse using methane gas from a landfill for co-generation, monitoring and controlling water and nutrient supply, and photoselective films with interference effects. Among other topics are automation and systems analysis, gas turnover and conditions in hermetically closed plant production systems, interaction between space and terrestrial approaches in plant science, and the optimal structure of a plant conveyor for human life support in a closed ecosystem.
