Publisher Comments:

Remember when Sex and the Citys Carrie Bradshaw faced the brutal realization that she couldnt buy her apartment because shed already spent her money on a closet full of Manolos? Well, if Carrie had met Catey first, shed own her co-op and be on her way to a comfortable retirement!

Catey Hill is the online money expert for the Daily News Web site—and author of this humorous, practical “girlfriends guide” to personal finance for 20- and 30-something females. (The ones with the designer shoes…and maxed-out credit cards.) With a hip, “Ive been there” voice along with worksheets and exercises, she helps women evaluate why they spend, get out of debt, and create a savings and retirement plan that even allows for the occasional splurge. Among the topics she covers: student loans, car payments, investing, saving for a home, and more.

Synopsis:

Catey Hill, the money editor for the New York Daily News Web site will help you evaluate why you spend, tweak your spending habits, help get out of debt, and help you create a savings and retirement plan that even lets you splurge sometimes.

Reading about finance is typically the last thing I want to do. However, in "Shoo, Jimmy Choo!" author Catey Hill writes in a manner that is easy-to-follow and actually entertaining. Hill breaks down buying trends, retirement and taxes. The chapter on home buying has me considering leaving my renting rut and finding my first home! Written for "The Modern Girl," I still recommend this book for anyone of any age who has questions about finance but are too afraid to ask. I think this book would make a great gift for a grad, too.
