African Narratives of Orishas, Spirits and Other Deities, by author Alex Cuoco, is a much awaited collection of narratives of the Orisha, Vodun and Nkisi gods of West Africa. This book contains a wealth of information never before collected in a single volume. It is an extensive compilation created for enthusiasts of African Studies, Religion, Mysticism and Mythology. It showcases the diversity of Yoruba Orisha culture in West Africa and the African Diaspora. In the second part of the book, starting with chapter three, the reader will encounter detailed information on a variety of topics related to the Nigerian Yoruba Orishas, Spirits and Vodun from Benin, Togo and Ghana as well as Nkisi gods from the Angola-Congo region. The book is in a non-academic format which afford the reader a free flow of thought without interruptions to check notes. This book is a treasure of literature and I recommend for everyone interested in African Mythology of the gods. The book contains an amazing extensive glossary which is a book in itself. All the effort put into this compilation, by the author, Alex Cuoco, is well worth the read. You will not be disappointed.
