The Big Pictureby Elaine Matthews Johnson
Synopses & Reviews
Life's Choices and the Big Picture
Our moment-by-moment existence revolves around our making choices. Like a series of computer zeroes and ones, we decide when to eat, what to eat, how much to eat; watch television, which show; consult a continuing list of things to do and which to do next, later, tomorrow, maybe never. We make hundreds, perhaps thousands, of choices every day, and the accumulated choices over the years make us who we are. Amid the immediate minutiae, occasionally an important choice enters our thoughts, an important idea requiring more time and attention than we have to give it. The choice is too big, too complicated, and we shove it into a dark corner in our minds for a later which never comes...
Murmuring groups stand in a dark room training penlights on puzzle pieces they're trying to fit together. Each group studiously ignores every other group.
A door opens and a hand reaches in and turns on the bank of overhead lights. The room is suddenly bright as day and all the flashlight beams disappear. Surprised, everyone turns towards the door. God steps into the room, leans against the closed door, and folds His arms across His chest.
Okay, people, listen up. His eyes sweep the room. We're going to put all your puzzle pieces together and see what the Big Picture really looks like.
