Synopsis:

Steven OaMalley spent the first eleven years of his life living in a suburban, upperclass neighborhood. That all changed in 1976. After his fatheras death, Steven and his mom are forced to move to an inner-city neighborhood in Gloucester, Massachusetts, known as The Fort. Steven had never met a person of color. Now, he finds himself surrounded by people of every ethnic background. It isnat long before his pale complexion brings him unwanted attention, earning him the nickname Clorox, and making him the target of a wanna-be gang known as the A-Bombs. In the midst of this situation, Steven forms an unlikely friendship with an elderly African-American man named Gus. It is this relationship with Gus that will change the way Steven views people and the world around him for the rest of his life.
